John R. Lasater was appointed associate circuit judge in May, 2017, by Gov. Eric Greitens.
Judge Lasater graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science in 1988. He received his law degree from Washington University School of Law in 1991.
Judge Lasater was the law clerk for the Hon. Carl R. Gaertner, Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, from 1991 to 1993. From 1993 until his appointment to the bench he was an assistant prosecuting attorney for St. Louis County.
Judge Lasater is a member of the Missouri Bar, and has served on its board of governors since 2010. He is a member of the St. Louis County Bar Association (president 2007) and Lawyers Association of St. Louis (president 2015-16).
Judge Lasater lives in St. Louis County.
